Mathematical Crochet

by Ceridwen Clarke

This sculpture is a physical representation of the mathematical formula for a hyperbolic plane. It's made by crocheting a ring of 3 chain stitches and then increasing the stitches on each round. The finished sculpture is about 6" across, and it bends and folds in every way.
The second photo shows how it was made.
Fun to make to see how it evolved, and of absolutely no use whatsoever.
