I decided to make this dress due to the lovely weather we have been having recently. I bought the material and used the Collette 1017 Peony pattern which has easy step by step instructions of how to construct this dress.
After laying out all the pieces and cutting out all the patterns I then proceeded to start sewing the pieces together.
First I applied the interfacing to the internal neck line collar and then stay stitching the neckline at the front and back of the bodice panels.
I then stitched in the dart at the front and back of the bodice and set in the sleeves when assembling all the bodice pieces together. The basic pattern did not call for pipping but I decided to add the red piping to the neckline edge.
The skirt has three panels (one at the front of the skirt and two at the back). The waist edge was stay stitched and gathered at two areas of the front waist. This was then assembled and stitched along the side seam and attached to the bodice. The invisible zipped and hook was stitched into the centre back of the dress.
I decided to make the belt to match the red piping and added a button to the back of the belt.
This was the first time I had ever made a dress and I was really pleased with the result.
