Owl Quilt

by Christine Wheeler

I used scraps of fabric to cut out the owls using a Sizzix die and a big shot machine. The fabric pieces had bondaweb on them ( paper still attached) before I put them through the machine . I cut all my denim and tartan squares( the quilt back is tartan with denim sashing) and then bonded the owls onto half of the denim squares. I then layered up a denim, a wadding and a tartan square and free motion quilted through all three layers. The plain denim squares were layered up the same way but I drew alternate hearts and flowers onto them and then machined them. I joined them all together with tartan sashing on the front and denim sashing on the back using the quilt as you go method. Not sure where you will find the instructions for that, probably YouTube. The whole thing was then bound with another tartan.
