Tractor quilt

by Helen Jones

I wanted to make a special gift for my god son's first birthday, his daddy is a farmer so I decided to make a quilt with a tractor on it.

I designed a very simple tractor and cut it out of paper as a template and then cut the pieces out of plain dye fabric. I ironed them onto the plain navy background with wondaweb and then top stitched round the pieces with a tight buttonhole stitch. I did the same with the grass and clouds. I then attached the back piece, also plain and put the cotton filling in.
I topstitched on the rick rack to give some texture to the grass and stitched on some sprigs of grass too.
